Over the last 2 weeks in the Primary 1 class that meets at 2:00 on Tuesday and Thursday we have been using the story of the Ugly Duckling to practice pronunciation and our listening and speaking skills. </div>

Stage 1: The first stage was for the students to become familiar with the story and we did this firstly by watching a silent video of the story. Then we listened to a song about the Ugly Duckling that introduced some key phrases that the students then practiced saying. </div>

Stage 2: For the second stage the students listened to the teacher telling the story and using flash cards to support their understanding. Having listened to the story the students were encouraged to repeat the story with the teacher using a set of vocabulary cards to support their storytelling. </div>

Stage 3: At the third stage the teacher utilised a set of text and picture cards to retell a shorter version of the story. Having listened to the teacher retelling this shortened version the students had to then put the text and picture cards in the correct sequence.</div>

Stage 4: For the fourth stage students were provided with two sets of cards – pictures and text - used at stage 3. These cards were in random order and the students had the listen to the teacher and identify either the picture or text card that matched what they had heard. This was activity was then repeated with the students having to locate the matching text or picture card from the cards that had been distributed on the tables in the classroom. </div>

Stage 5: For stage 5, having familiarised themselves with the story through the activities in earlier stages the students then began an activity to create their own Ugly Duckling Storybook. Each student was provided with a set of pictures and text and their task was to (a) fill in the blanks in the text (b) match the pictures with the text (c) cut and paste the pictures and text in the correct sequence into their own story book.</div>

in the Primary 3 and 4 Monday and Wednesday class have been learning about
adjectives and adverbs and we used the opportunity of Carnival to practice
using them. The first stage was to identify Carnival related vocabulary and we
did this as a whole class activity – miming some of words to reinforce memory
(for example band, music, parade, walk, march). The children then worked in
three groups, “Horses”, “Dogs” and “Rabbits” to create their own pictures of
Carnival using the vocabulary that we had identified.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

Our students from 3rd and 4th of Primary from the Monday-Wednesday 14-15h's group were learning a traditional Christmas Carol during the last week before Christmas holidays called <i>The 12 Days of Christmas</i>. This involved learning some new vocabulary, but in particular focused on pronunciation, especially the "i" sound in "piper", the "u" sound in "drummer" and the "r" sound in "bird". They practised with a card game and with a worksheet, and after a rehearsal here we have the result!</div>

A l'escola Mare de Déu del Carme oferim classes extraescolars d'anglès i rus, en una gran varietat d'horaris i grups adaptats a les necessitats dels nostres alumnes. Així doncs, s'ofereixen dues possibilitats d'horaris: la franja de migdia, de 14h a 15h, per aquells alumnes que es queden a dinar a l'escola, i la franja de tarda, de 17h a 18h per aquells alumnes que prefereixen aprendre i millorar els idiomes un cop s'ha acabat la jornada escolar. </div>
